Canadian Adoption of

ISO 19902 Moves Forward

Back

October, 2008

Canada, through initiatives under the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), is currently in the process of adopting the ISO 19902 Offshore Structure Standard for Fixed Steel Offshore Structures as the National Standard of Canada. The ISO 19902 standard has been reviewed by the Fixed Steel Working Group (within the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) for ISO TC67 SC7) as part of the adoption process. The review concluded that a deviation regarding welding requirements would be appropriate for inclusion in the Canadian version of the ISO 19902 standard to reflect Canadian requirements. The deviation has now passed all voting phases of the Canadian adoption process. It is anticipated that the Canadian National Standard version of ISO 19902 will be published in either Q4 of 2008 or Q1 of 2009.

Further information will be posted on the Canadian adoption of ISO 19902 in the near future.
